Sophie Anderton

Born on 14 May 1977 in Bristol
Sophie Anderton is an English model and reality television personality.

She became famous in 1996 after appearing in the Gossard Glossies "Girl in the grass" national advertising campaign shot by Herb Ritts, with the strapline "Who said a woman couldn't get pleasure from something soft?". The campaign attracted a record number of complaints (321) to the Advertising Standards Authority, none of which were upheld. The ASA later found out that the majority of complaints came from women who had never seen the ads, and had been encouraged to write in by an outraged newspaper columnist.

Earnings of £30,000 per week propelled her into the ranks of the it-girls and allowed her to lead a lifestyle of parties, drugs and sex. The UK tabloid press reported this in detail, even more so when she became addicted to cocaine, had a tumultuous affair with footballer and fellow addict Mark Bosnich, and became involved in prostitution.

Reality TV
In 2004, Anderton was a contestant on the fourth series of ITV's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, where she came fifth and was remembered for having a disagreement with singer Natalie Appleton.

She has also taken part in Simply the Best and a celebrity edition of the UK version of Fear Factor. In 2005, she appeared in the programme Cold Turkey which followed her attempts to quit smoking cigarettes alongside Tara Palmer-Tomkinson. She later became the face of the SOS Instant Quit Programme which consists of a mouth spray which makes smokers feel sick at the smell and taste of cigarette smoke. She has since resumed the habit.

In 2006, Anderton was a contestant on the second series of ITV's Love Island. Known as Me-Me by the show's presenters, Fearne Cotton and Patrick Kielty, she was covered extensively in the press as being emotionally unstable, crying relentlessly and being highly self-absorbed. She fell out with friend, Lady Victoria Hervey, after Anderton transferred her affections from Shane Lynch to Hervey's island interest Chris Brosnan. After a long discussion expressing how upset she was with her former friend's behaviour, Hervey then poured a bottle of wine over Anderton's head. Anderton was evicted from the show on 25 August.

Anderton appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross on 22 September 2006, and announced that she was about to star in a new TV series. The series was later announced as Sky One's Cirque de Celebrité, but had to quit after she sustained ligament damage.

Prostitution
In 2004, Anderton admitted to having sex for £5,000, arranged by a brothel madam in Florence, Italy.

In 2007, tabloid newspaper News Of The World and Mazher Mahmood conducted an entrapment operation, in which Anderton both took and offered cocaine and offered to have sex with Mahmood for £10,000. Her £100,000pa contract with fake tan firm Fake Bake was terminated the next day, citing her prostitution.

Sophie Anderton has revealed that her former cocaine habit cost her up to £1,000 a week and amounted to a six figure debt that left her bankrupt.

The troubled model admits that the struggle to overcome her addiction was 'a dark chapter in her life' and she now 'has to take life one day at a time'.

Now clean of drugs, Sophie says she’s also given up alcohol for fear of it leading to anything worse.

The star refused to reveal the extent of her debt, but admitted it was 'six figures.'

Sophie Anderton QUOTES

" I'm looking healthy because I'm off drugs and I'm having lots and lots of great sex... I have at least one orgasm a day, and often I have three. I have to say the love of a good man has made
me so happy. "

"The amount of painkillers I was given. Every time I had a pain in my leg I got used to numbing it out."

"'I'm an addict and I have to work at being clean every day"

"I just met somebody who happened to be a million more times more self destructive than me."

"I was six and a half stone when I went into rehab......I don't recognise the girl that I was."

"My spending has been out of control for the past few years. I can’t even bear to think about what I used to spend in a week"

"I was shopping every week, partying most nights and going on extravagant holidays. I had three Chloe Paddington bags at one point – they’re nearly £900 a pop!"

"I was completely irresponsible. I had to have the flashiest cars, designer clothes, shoes and bags, and was always out at the most expensive restaurants. It was mad."

-Sophie Anderton

Giada Pamela De Laurentiis

Born on August 22, 1970
Giada Pamela De Laurentiis is an Italian American chef, writer, television personality, and the current host of the Food Network programs Everyday Italian, Behind the Bash, Giada's Weekend Getaways, Giada in Paradise, and Giada at Home. She also appears regularly as a contributor and guest co-host on NBC's Today. De Laurentiis is the founder of the catering business GDL Foods.

Sexiness

To look at Giada De Laurentiis, you probably wouldn’t classify her as ultra-sexy in the same way you would Jessica Alba, for example. She’s more of the super cute and bubbly type. But anyone who’s seen an episode of Everyday Italian knows that there’s more to Giada’s sex appeal than straight looks. She has a way of charming the camera and of gushing about the food she’s eating that does cruel things to a man.

De Laurentiis, a self-proclaimed chocoholic, studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France with aspirations of becoming a pastry chef. After returning to the United States, she became a professional chef working in several Los Angeles restaurants, notably the Wolfgang Puck-owned Spago. She later worked as a food stylist and was contacted by the Food Network after styling a piece in Food & Wine Magazine in 2002.

Her cooking program, Everyday Italian, has been broadcasted on the Food Network since 2003. On her Chefography (a Food Network biography program), she admitted that she never wanted to be in her "family business" of show business. She felt very uncomfortable in front of the camera when she first began hosting Everyday Italian, but has since become more relaxed and open on air. When the program first aired, the Food Network received emails accusing the network of hiring a model or actress pretending to cook instead of a real chef.

De Laurentiis began hosting Behind the Bash in October 2006. The program examines the catering process behind big event extravaganzas such as the Grammy Awards. In January 2007, a third De Laurentiis-hosted show, Giada's Weekend Getaways, debuted on Food Network. On this show, De Laurentiis travels to a featured locale (such as Seattle, South Beach, San Francisco, Napa, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming) and visits her favorite local culinary destinations.

On a November 2006 episode of Iron Chef America, De Laurentiis and Bobby Flay competed against, and were defeated by, Rachael Ray and Mario Batali.

In 2007, De Laurentiis appeared as a presenter on the inaugural Food Network Awards. In June 2007, she hosted a two-part Food Network special entitled Giada in Paradise, featuring the two locales of Santorini, Greece and Capri, Italy. De Laurentiis also made several appearances as a guest judge on the third season of The Next Food Network Star, which aired in 2007. In 2008, she won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lifestyle Host.

De Laurentiis is a spokesperson for the pasta manufacturer Barilla.

Publications

  1. In 2005, De Laurentiis published her first cookbook, Everyday Italian: 125 Simple and Delicious Recipes.
  2. A second cookbook, Giada's Family Dinners, was released on April 4, 2006.
  3. Another cookbook, Everyday Pasta, was released on April 3, 2007.
  4. Her latest cookbook, Giada's Kitchen: New Italian Favorites, was released on September 30, 2008.
  1. Giada's book Everyday Italian reached #5 on the New York Times Best Seller's List.
  2. Her other book, Giada's Family Dinners reached #1.
  3. So did her third book Everyday Pasta.
  4. Her fourth cookbook Giada's Kitchen debuted in September, 2008 and became #2 in its first week.
  5. Giada's book, Everyday Italian: 125 Simple and Delicious Recipes, is a New York Times Bestseller.
  6. Her private chef/catering company is called GDL and is based in Los Angeles

Giada De Laurentiis Quotes

"I grew up in the kitchen, mostly with my grandfather, my mother and my aunt Raffy. My grandfather's family used to own a pasta factory in Naples and they would go door-to-door selling their pasta. So his love of food came from his parents, which was then passed down to my mother and then again to me. Some of my best memories growing up are being in the kitchen with my family cooking. I also spent time at my grandfather Dino's gourmet store, DDL Foodshow, where he brought in chefs from Naples to cook. I thought of them as rock stars. I loved being there, and that made me decide to become a chef."

"My biggest bit of advice would be to spend some time actually helping caterers or Chefs, even if it has to be for free or as an intern of culinary externship. It helps immerse yourself in what you potentially want to do. Being involved, learning firsthand and observing the craft and absorbing all you can, makes it easier to define what you want. It will also ultimately make you a better Chef. Culinary school, or even a single class, is a great bet too."

“I spent time at my grandfather Dino's gourmet store where he brought in chef
s from Naples to cook. I thought of them as rock stars.”

- Giada De Laurentiis

On her other favorite cuisines

Definitely Japanese. I love how clean and refined the dishes are. They're simple in their ingredients but the flavors and presentation are typically amazing. Second would be Chinese.

About cooking at home for guests vs. cooking on TV

It's a chance to talk to the people I'm cooking for. When you cook on television, you don't get that. It's really a lot of fun for me, filling their tummies with goodness.

On how she can still be in good shape while being a chef

I have to say that this is by far the question I am most frequently asked, and my answer is always the same: genetics, portion control and fresh ingredients. If you've ever seen my mother either on the show or in photographs, you'll notice that she is quite petite, trim. So I have her to thank for getting me off to a good start. In addition, I've never been one to sit down to a meal with a large plate of food and eat every morsel until I was uncomfortably full. Rather, I graze - eating small portions of food all day long. And the ingredients are clean and fresh. Yes, I absolutely love chocolate, and I do eat it, but just a bite.

On who her inspirations are

Definitely my grandfather, my mom and my aunt Raffy. They've all taught me something about Italian cooking: tradition, simplicity and creativity, respectively.

Emily Irene VanCamp

Born on May 12, 1986
Emily Irene VanCamp is a Canadian actress born in Port Perry, Ontario. She is best known for her roles as Amy Abbott on the WB Network series Everwood, which ran from 2002 to 2006, and more recently for her role as Rebecca Harper in the ABC network series Brothers & Sisters since 2007.

She moved to Los Angeles in early 2002. Emily VanCamp first appeared in 2000's Canadian television Are You Afraid of the Dark? as the character Peggy Gregory for the two episodes "The Tale of the Silver Sight: Part 2" and "The Tale of the Silver Sight: Part 3." Her next 2000's role was in Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis, in which she played the character of Jackie Bouvier at 13 years of age. She appeared again in 2000 in the television series Radio Active in the episode "Bully for You", portraying the character Becky Sue. In 2001 VanCamp appeared in Lost and Delirious playing Allison Moller. She also appeared in All Souls as Kirstin Caine, Johanna Wilson in Dice and in Glory Days as Sam Dolan.

She appeared in Redeemer as Alana and in The House on Turk Street as Connie. She next appeared as Jen Tyler in A Different Loyalty. She appeared in the short film Rings which bridged the gap between The Ring and The Ring Two in which she reprised her character from the short film. She also appeared in the 2006 film Black Irish as the character Kathleen.

The role for which she is perhaps best known is her character Amy Abbott in the WB Television Network's drama Everwood.

In 2007, VanCamp joined the cast of Touchstone Television’s large ensemble series Brothers & Sisters as a regular late in the season, a move that marks her second teaming with Executive Producer Greg Berlanti (they were previously paired on Everwood). VanCamp's character was introduced as the daughter of the late William Walker (Tom Skerritt) and his secret mistress, Holly Harper (Patricia Wettig), though it is later discovered that this is incorrect through DNA done in 2008.

Emily Irene VanCamp quotes

“At a party, I am the kind of girl who will wait until the end of the night before I really get going. I'm a little anti-social at first, but I'm not immune to dancing on tables either.”

"I don't dig parties. I rather sit at home with my friends and a good movie. Movie night with my girlfriends are the best I know"

"Really good movies come from Spain, and it is my dream to get a role from one of those."

"The spotlight does put pressure on certain aspects of my life. I've given up looking for
a boyfriend. That's not to say I won't be intersted if the right guy comes along. But I'm not in a hurry."

"You put the picture of the ideal person in your head and then someone comes along and they don't fit that ideal at all. But somehow there is something about them that is so attractive. Everyone that I have fallen for has not fit that ideal at all. "

-Emily Irene VanCamp

on her idol, Audrey Hepburn
If I could meet anybody in the whole world, dead or alive, it would be Audrey Hepburn. She is my idol. I've been watching her movies since I was a little kid.

on what kind of pet she'd like
My idea of a perfect pet is a really, really big dog! Huge! Unfortunately, I can't have pets right now. There's just not enough time with my schedule. For a while there I thought about getting a cat, but even that seems unfair.

on her love of dance
I've been dancing my entire life. Jazz, hip hop, ballet. And then there's tap dancing. I love to tap. My ultimate dream is to do a musical like Singin' in the Rain

On the emotions needed for her role on Everwood
It's my job to dig down deep and find those parts of you. Everyone has an evil side, everyone has a drug addict in them. That's my job to find those characteristics and make them shine.

On her Everwood co-star Gregory Smith
We hit it off right away. There's really good chemistry between our characters, and he's also become a really good friend of mine. It ends there, though. I don't have a crush on him, although I think everybody should! He's so shy; he's going to love that.
